The Museum opened in 1982, covers more than 20.000 mq. It occupies the buildings of a textile factory built in 1880 and purchased by the Schlumpf brothers in 1957. The entire building has been classified as a historic monument since 1979.
The National Automobile Museum houses the most important automobile collection in the world with over 500 vehicles. This vast collection is due to the Schlumpf brothers, a large space is dedicated to the 87 cars of the Bugatti brand, among them there are two of the six Bugatti Royale (Type 41) existing in the world, as well as the reconstruction of another example of the same vehicle.
The purpose of the collection is to show you the evolution of this sector. Our vehicles come from various car manufacturers who have significantly revolutionized the way we live.
The “Automobile Adventure” area traces the history of the automobile from 1878 to the present day through 243 cars. The 800 lampposts, identical to those of the Alexandre III bridge in Paris, were made at the request of Fritz Schlumpf.
The "Car Racing" area will transport you to the starting line with emblematic sports models. The immersion will be total thanks to the furniture and sound effects.
The "Masterpieces" area hosts 80 of the most beautiful cars of the 1930s. You will be able to admire two prestigious Royal Bugatti type 41, including the Napoleon coupè that belonged to Ettore Bugatti.
The racetrack is a true open-air theater consisting of 3 rings and can accommodate up to 4500 people in the stands. Shows, animations and car parades are regularly offered. 30 cars can be parked in the open paddock and the club house with garage allows the aggregation of clubs and associations of collectors.
