The Louwman Museum houses the oldest private car collection in the world, created by the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and includes over two hundred and fifty antique and classic cars. Experts consider the collection as one of the most beautiful in the world.
The collection is housed in a specially built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman founded his import company Dodge and Chrysler. The building, designed by the American architect Michael Graves, blends comprehensively with its historic surroundings. The landscaped gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complete the architecture of the building.
During your visit to the Louwman Museum you can enjoy a delicious lunch, served in the restaurant located on the ground floor in Museumplein. The square offers a unique atmosphere of the 1920s. The facades of the houses are original objects, most of which come from houses in The Hague. The restaurant is managed by the famous catering House of Lords.
In the museum shop you will find a wide range of car related products. There is a guide to the entire collection, numerous books, a selection of model cars and automobilia.
