Since the end of the 19th century, service stations have become increasingly important. Technological evolution has led to increasingly automated and safe supply systems. In less than a century, the service station has become a fundamental element of everyday life.
The Fisogni Museum of the service station, unique in its kind in continental Europe, includes more than 5.000 pieces of industrial archeology collected by Guido Fisogni, a passionate entrepreneur of the sector. The Museum founded in 1966 reopened its doors in 2015, offering its visitors unique items that were faithfully collected and restored, which represent the history of petrol pumps and service stations from 1892 to 2001.
The collection is the most complete in the world and in 2000 it was awarded the Guinness World Records certificate. In addition to petrol stations, it also displays every object concerning fuel stations: globes, milk, advertising plates, compressors, fire extinguishers, tools, gadgets, toys and photographs. The museum also includes a complete collection of technical drawings, properly stored in a historical archive.
